Being an active part of the community is an important part of Reid’s Fine Furnishings’ philosophy as a business.
We take pleasure in giving back and consider it an honor to be able to help others.
An example of this spirit of philanthropy can be seen in our involvement with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and Research Institute in Roanoke. We recently provided a “Stressless seating” area to the school, donating two Stressless sofas for students to relax in during their downtime.
“The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine does great things for our community,” said Reid’s owner Bill Waide. “We need to support it and this was one way to show that – by providing a comfortable space for these hard-at-work students to study or relax.”
Owner Andrea Reid Waide echoed those sentiments, saying “It is important to us at Reid’s to give back to the local community.”
The partnership with VTCSOM began after Reid’s sponsored an event for the institution at Rockledge, a local event venue. The Waides also have a relationship with Lynne Pearo, VTCSOM director of alumni relations and special events.
The donation is just one of the ways Reid’s has given back to the community. They donated furniture for The Grandin Theatre to use in its foyer as part of its renovation project. Reid’s has also hosted fundraisers for and made donations to the Jefferson Center.
Each holiday season, Reid’s Fine Furnishings hosts the Charity of Choice sale event. For a $50 donation, customers receive $400 off their purchase of select Ekornes Stressless recliners or $200 off their purchase of other Stressless furnishings.
Last year, Reid’s expanded their philanthropic effort to impact charities in both Roanoke and Forest, where its stores are located. Donations made in Roanoke went to the Bradley Free Clinic, while those made in Forest benefited Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest
